With Superyacht Cup Palma 2022 all set to get under way at the end of next month, the final components are coming together at Europe's longest-running superyacht regatta.

The newest welcome addition to the SYC roster of friends and partners is Jaquet Droz, with the Swiss luxury watch manufacturer coming aboard as Official Timekeeper for the Mallorcan festival of sail from June 29 to July 2.

With a history dating back to the 18th century, when the brand made its mark during the Age of Enlightenment, Jaquet Droz is renowned for its distinctive, innovative, and sophisticated timepieces, notably its range of art- and design-inspired watches.

Ever evolving, Jaquet Droz prides itself on its 'Philosophy of the Unique', the development of new materials and technologies, and on the brand's disruptive spirit. As Jaquet Droz's own brand literature puts it - 'Some watches tell time. Some tell a story'.

"We are delighted and honoured to welcome Jaquet Droz to the Superyacht Cup Palma family as our Official Timekeeper," said Event Director Kate Branagh.

"It is a vital role for which they are supremely capable. Alongside that the unique elements surrounding the brand make it a great fit for an event like ours which also values innovation and excellence and celebrates inspiring design."

And she added: "Superyacht Cup Palma 2022 is ready to go, and we are looking forward to welcoming back returning friends and greeting those making their debut with us."

For Jaquet Droz, CEO Alain Delamuraz said: "Superyacht Cup Palma is at heart a celebration of great nautical design, both historic and state of the art. Like Jaquet Droz it welcomes and embraces new ways of thinking while preserving the best of the past. It is wonderful to be involved."

The Official Timekeeper announcement follows the welcome return to Superyacht Cup Palma of their long-standing Preferred Hotel Partner the St. Regis Hotels & Resorts, part of Marriott International, which will host the Owners' Summer Barbecue on July 1 at Mallorca's best address, the St. Regis Mardavall Mallorca Resort.

Svea joins Superyacht Cup Palma to make it a J-Class quartet

Meanwhile, the already impressive SYC 2022 line-up has been further enhanced with the inclusion of the J-Class yacht Svea, the newest member of the revered class which was last seen at the event in 2018.

Originally designed by Tore Holm in 1937, but not built at the time, Svea finally came into being as an updated Andre Hoek design in 2017 at the Vitters Shipyard - a Superyacht Cup Silver Partner.

Svea will join the trio of previously confirmed J-Class entries - Topaz, Ranger and Velsheda - competing on their own dedicated course for an extra day of racing on Wednesday 29 June, while they will also be in contention for the overall SYC Trophy.

On the same day Superyacht Cup Palma 2022 will get formally under way with superyacht and sponsor registration at SYC's long-term race management partner and host venue the Real Club NĂ¡utico de Palma.

This is followed by the Captain's Briefing in RCNP's Sala Magna, and the Welcome Cocktail presented by Destination Partner, New Zealand, and Friend of SYC, DYT Yacht Transport on the RCNP terrace.

Racing then continues Thursday, Friday and concludes on Saturday 2 July.
