Built on the Combined Strength of North Sails and Melges Performance Sailboats

Driven by decades of shared expertise and a passion for One Design sailing, North Sails Zenda relaunches to support the next chapter of Melges Performance Sailboats based in Wisconsin. Now operating under the new leadership of Cate Muller-Terhune and North Sails veteran Allan Terhune Jr, North Sails Zenda returns with renewed momentum and a clear mission: to deliver fast sails and unmatched sailor support to One Design sailors. North Sails Zenda was originally established in 1996 by Harry Melges III.

Supporting North Sails Zenda is the Melges leadership team, including One Design class experts Harry Melges III, Andy Burdick, and Eddie Cox—trusted voices in the sailing community with decades of championship-winning experience and deep expertise in the scow and sportboat classes. They will collaborate closely with the North Sails One Design team, lending their insight and influence to benefit clients and strengthen the brand’s presence in Melges fleets.

"Welcome back to North Sails Zenda, which strengthens our One Design infrastructure and expands our ability to serve inland lake sailors and competitive fleets worldwide," said Ken Read, President of North Sails. “North Sails has a lot of history with Melges boats and the Melges family- both synonymous with exceptional performance sailing. We also have a long and very successful history with Allan and Cate. This joint effort signals a renewed focus on delivering best-in-class sails and service to the Melges and Scow communities."

North Sails Zenda will serve as a development hub for One Design, with a specific focus on Scow classes, Melges-managed classes, and performance classes such as the Melges 24. By working closely with sailors, North Sails product developers, and the wider One Design team, the Zenda crew will play a crucial role in shaping future product development and ensuring North Sails remains the leader in Melges sailing.

"We're here to help sailors reach their goals, whether that's winning a regatta or enjoying a day on the water with family," said Cate Muller-Terhune. "Zenda is ready to support the community with everything it needs to succeed. Our relationship with North Sails will benefit all."

North Sails Zenda reaffirms both companies' commitment to the One Design community. Sailors can expect the consistency and performance they've come to trust from both companies, now backed by the global North Sails network and expanded resources.
