Jono Ridler and Blair Tuke were interviewed by NZBoating-World.com at Campbells Bay, the day after the announcement of the epic 1000nm ocean swim that Jono Ridler will start on January 5, 2026 to raise awareness of the parlous state of the ecology of the New Zealand coastline. Campbells Bay was the point where ultra-distance swimmer Jono Ridler landed after his 33hr, 99km swim across the Hauraki Gulf in 2023.

The Swim4TheOcean epic will start at North Cape on January 5, 2026, with the route being broken down to 120 stages. It is being conducted as one of the conservation programs by Live Ocean the environmental organisation supported by Peter Burling and Blair Tuke's Live Ocean Racing team, the Black Foils which competes on the SailGP circuit.

Swim4TheOcean is backed by Platinum sponsor TMNZ alongside supporting swim sponsors including APL, Forsyth Barr, Generate KiwiSaver, StabiX and others.

Predictwind will be heavily involved in the monitoring of the swim, with weather forecast, tidal forecast, tracking of the swim, and upload via Predictwind's Datahub and communications technology. The swim will followed live on the Swim4TheOcean website and social media.
