Organisers, exhibitors and the BIAV have hailed the inaugural Gippsland Lakes Boat Show a success after it concluded on the Paynesville Waterfront on Sunday afternoon. Very favourable weather, an outstanding waterfront location, and a great display by exhibitors made for a splendid weekend. Complemented by the Paynesville Classic Boat Rally, and featuring the inaugural Bream Cup, the boat show and overall festival was no doubt a great success.

The three-day estimated 4,000 - 5,000 strong crowd took in the boat show, as well as numerous Classic Boat Rally activations, including the main 'parades'. Over 250 individual classic boats of all types and styles worked their way down the McMillan Strait and through the heart of Paynesville. Thousands lined the banks as this took place.

The inaugural Sydney Charter Show delivered an exceptional two-day showcase of Australia's growing superyacht charter sector, welcoming domestic and international charter brokers, and invited guests to explore an extensive display of the country's leading charter vessels. Presented in partnership with Platinum Partners Ankor Software, Echo Yachts and Jones Bay Superyacht Marina, the extended two-day format balanced a stronger charter agency focus whilst maintaining the traditional Soirée guest experience on Sunday afternoon.

The Australian Superyacht Conference, hosted by Superyacht Australia and held in Sydney for the first time, debuted to a full and enthralled conference room on 24 February. The Conference welcomed a sold-out capacity of 100 delegates including attendees from the Cook Islands, Fiji, Greece, Germany, Hong Kong, Indonesia, South Korea, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Singapore, Spain, Turkey and the United Kingdom. Purposely aligned with the newly introduced Sydney Charter Show and presented ahead of SailGP in Sydney, the Conference created an opportunity for captains, operators, shipyards and service providers to join together to collaborate and gain insights on the critical issues and opportunities shaping the future of Australia's superyacht industry.

Legendary Rolex Sydney Hobart skipper Mark Richards and the company he founded on Sydney's Northern Beaches in 1995, Palm Beach Motor Yachts, have joined forces with the Cruising Yacht Club of Australia (CYCA) to help power the next generation of offshore sailors. Palm Beach Motor Yachts, who recently acquired the newly reborn 100ft maxi Palm Beach XI, have become the latest Partner of the CYCA's world renowned Youth Sailing Academy, signing on for the next three years. The partnership will see Palm Beach Motor Yachts sponsor one of the CYCA's Elliott 7s, while Richards will provide guidance and sailing opportunities for the Academy's up and coming sailors.

The Magenta Project, in collaboration with 11th Hour Racing and World Sailing, has released the results of the 2x25 Review into gender equality across the marine industry. The findings reveal a stark gap between high-profile progress at the top of the sport of sailing and persistent discrimination, exclusion and inequity across the broader industry/community. Sixty-five percent of all respondents report experiencing some form of discrimination. Sexism remains the most prevalent form, reported by more than 85% of women. The picture for women has barely shifted — 75% still believe gender balance is a problem.
