In high-level regattas, it's well known that the first real opponent to overcome is the unpredictability of the weather. The racers and organizers experienced this firsthand, spending a couple of hours on the morning of Thursday, June 11th, with their eyes glued to the horizon in the stretch of sea off the historic port of Vieste.

The intense and nerve-wracking wait for the race committee was amply rewarded. Around 1:30 PM, a sudden shift in the wind, rising to between 10 and 14 knots, gave the final green light.

From that moment on, the Apulian waters transformed into a lightning-fast circuit where the Waszp and WingFoil class fleets alternated non-stop, allowing all four InShore races originally scheduled for the day to be successfully completed.

Gargano doesn't disappoint: adrenaline at 20 knots

If Thursday offered the thrill of a comeback, yesterday, Friday, June 12th, truly ignited the competition's excitement. Gargano, after all, is renowned in the international sailing community as a true wind machine, and this time it fully confirmed its solid reputation.

Gusts lashed the race course, reaching 20 knots, offering a second day of racing filled with pure adrenaline. The flying boats and outstretched wings of the competitors offered an extraordinary visual spectacle, confirming that this stage of the 2026 Giro d'Italia is already destined to go down in the annals of the event for its intensity and technical level.
