Laser Lakeland Grand Prix at Killington Sailing Association

by Jonathan Nicoll 13 Apr 2010 07:20 NZST 11 April 2010

Welcome spring sunshine and a very friendly welcome greeted the twenty entrants for the first meeting of the 2010 Lakeland Laser Grand Prix Series held at Killington Lake on 11th April.

Winds were light to moderate from the North East with the Howgill fells getting in the way just enough to provide plenty of shifts and gusts. Local sailor Dave Lawson used a brand new sail to good effect to win all three races from his brother who had also recently been to the Laser Store – Dave said at the prize giving that the lesson was plain to see so there may soon be a rash of new sails in the Lake District.

With eleven entrants altogether and four finishers in the top six it was a good day for the home club who put on an excellent event for their first appearance on the Lakeland circuit.

Prizes were generously sponsored by Sedbergh School and the prize-giving for the day was preceded by the presentation of prizes for last year’s series, sponsored by Rooster and UKLA. The next event is at Annandale SC on May 1st.

Overall Results:

1st Dave Lawson (Killington)
2nd Pete Lawson (Killington)
3rd Dan Trotter (Derwent Reservoir)
1st lady, Jane Baker (Killington)
