What they said:

Stuart Bithell (33, Rochdale, Manchester), 49er

"It was the first day of gold fleet which means things are hotting up. We left the beach with a positive attitude and ready for the fight ahead. Our first two races were great, we really nailed the priorities and had two good counters. We had a 'coming together' with the local Kiwi lads which put us on the back foot for race three which didn't end well to be honest. It's all good as long as they know what goes around comes around."

Jack Hawkins (24, Truro, Cornwall), 49er

"Pretty amazing conditions here in Auckland for the start of gold fleet racing. Had a tough day on the water - you get easily punished in this fleet with people trying to qualify their country or themselves for the Olympic Games, however we're looking forward to getting on the water again tomorrow to climb up the leaderboard."
