Well-known industry brand, Events Clothing, has announced a new majority shareholder as the uniform provider prepares for a time of expansion.

Managing Director Owen Rutter is excited to announce that international yachting personality Brad Butterworth has come onboard as the new majority shareholder in the business. Butterworth is a four times winner of the America's Cup and was watch captain aboard Steinlager 2, when the Peter Blake skippered maxi-ketch won every leg in the 1989-90 Whitbread Round the World Race, and is the only boat to have won every leg.

“After 29 years of proudly dressing superyacht crew, sailing teams and corporates, we are ready to expand our business with the support of new owners,” says Rutter.

“Brad and I have been sailing compatriots for over 30 years and these years of friendship and rivalry on the water have now converged into the next step for the business with us both under one roof.”

Butterworth adds a wealth of international experience to Events Clothing, while Rutter will continue to share his expertise; retaining a shareholding and staying on as Managing Director.

“We are delighted Events Clothing will stay in New Zealand ownership and we look forward to building on the excellence we have established to date.”
