It is back to business as usual for Smuggler Marine who resumed full production in their West Auckland factory following the end of the lockdown the end of April.

The Smuggler Marine build facility is once again humming along with several new builds under way for both NZ and overseas customers. Now that NZ has moved to reduced alert levels with contact tracing and social distancing rules in place, customers are able to come on site to view boats.

Amphibious system producer Orion have been supplying Smuggler with their three-wheel S25 system since the two companies won a hard-fought battle in the Appeal Court against Sealegs in August 2019.

Smuggler found customers wanted more choice in the amphibious market and since the High Court injunction set in 2016 was lifted last August, orders for the Smuggler Strata 800 amphibious RIBs have been flowing in.

Alongside their amphibious range, Smuggler Marine builds a variety of trailer RIBs, superyacht tenders, and RIBs for commercial tour operators as well as Coastguard. They also produce a range of traditional fibreglass family cruisers, trailer boats from 5 to 7 metres.

There are several exciting new projects currently under development at Smuggler Marine, including a smaller 7metre amphibious RIB, plus a bigger 10metre.

These new models will be ready for summer 2021 and Smuggler are anticipating a great reception of these stunning RIBs by the boating public.
