Three Class 40 and a Maxi Yacht are the first to have registered for RoundItaly, a fact that immediately confirms the success of the event and the participation goals that the organizers set for the first edition, scheduled from the 16th of September.

"To already have four registrations for such a challenging race is a very important sign - commented the chairmen of the Società velica di Barcola e Grignano, Mitja Gialuz, and the Yacht Club Italiano, Gerolamo Bianchi - showing how the project linking the two yacht clubs is of great sporting value and interest. Special thanks go to the yachtsmen who have chosen to participate: along with their crews, they will be the protagonists of this new route, destined to make history in Italian offshore navigation. We know that there are other yachtsmen ready to register; we await them, for they will make the event even more exciting".

The first to have registered for RoundItaly is the Genoese Ernesto Moresino (Circolo Nautica MGA) who, with his Class40 Ediliziacrobatica supported by the Marina Genova Resort, will be at the start of his great oceanic experience in the MiniTransat and Class 40 categories.

"The beauty of this new event - commented Ernesto Moresino - derives from the complexity of the regatta, its length and the fact of having to make many tactical choices dictated by the proximity of the coast. An extremely fascinating challenge, that will permit us to circumnavigate our marvellous Country: this regatta will be filled with beauty".

Moresino has paved the way for the Class 40 registrations, and currently there are already three monotypes signed up for the regatta.

In fact, at the start there will also be the Venetian Cristiano Verardo's Kika Green Challenge (CNSM) and Marco Bianchini's Karnak, with skipper Stefano Raspadori (Yacht Club San Marino).

Over the past few days, the registration of the Maxi Pendragon has also been formalized, so now its task is to set the record of this new and exciting route.

"Taking into consideration the length of the route, the tactical snares, the level of the adversaries and the ability of the Organizational Committee, RoundItaly has already distinguished itself as one of the more interesting novelties on the international calendar: deciding to participate was almost automatic - comments Carlo Alberini, leader of Lightbay Sailing Team and helmsman of Pendragon - Among other things, thanks to the excellent rapport established with the Yacht Club Italiano, who hosted us several times during the season, we will complete our crew with some athletes from the ranks of the competitive YCI: a union of intent of which we are very proud and we hope it can bring new and interesting collaborations between us and what the Yacht Club is par excellence".

The registrations for the regatta are open, and there has been much interest at an international level. All the information related to RoundItaly Genova-Trieste is at the disposal of the competitors and enthusiasts via the website.

Over the next few days, all the yachtsmen registered for the International Maxi Association will receive from SVBG and YCI the invitation to participate in the race: "A big thanks to IMA - commented the sports directors of the two Yacht Clubs, Dean Bassi (SVBG) and Jean Dufour (YCI) - for having collaborated on the final draft of the Notice of Race; this regatta is also an occasion for solid partnerships".
