St Aubin's Bay is expected to be awash with colour when the 31st Channel Islands Hobie Cat Championships return on Saturday 20th and Sunday 21st August.

Hosted and organised by the Royal Channel Islands Yacht Club (RCIYC), around 30 boats from Jersey, Guernsey and the UK are expected to take to the water for a full weekend of competitive racing.

The event is open to all Hobie classes, from junior crews on Dragoons through to youth and adult teams racing Hobie 16's and the powerful Hobie 18 Wildcats.

There will be six qualifying races over the weekend to find the champions of the various categories, with races starting at 10am on Saturday and 11am on Sunday.

Good public vantage points to view the action are along the Esplanade, anywhere from First Tower to the Gunsite.

Local estate agents Savills, one of the world's largest real estate firms with 700 offices around the globe, are once again sponsoring the championships.

James Wilding, Commodore of the RCIYC, said: "The Hobie Cats with their bright sails will provide a mass of colour in St Aubin's Bay, where given good conditions the racing promises to be fast, competitive and exciting. It is certainly one of the major events in the Channel Islands' sailing calendar and we are delighted to once again be partnering with Savills. We are very grateful for their ongoing sponsorship and wonderful support and enthusiasm."

Geri O'Brien, head of residential sales at Savills Jersey, added: "The Hobie Cat Championships is an event we have sponsored for several years and we're once again looking forward to welcoming everyone out on the water. The event brings together so many people and there is always a fantastic atmosphere and great community spirit."
