Solbian, the Turin-based manufacturer of flexible solar panels, is excited to announce an important partnership with the renowned French sailor, Yannick Bestaven, winner of the Vendée Globe 2020/2021. The solar panels supplied to the crew of Maitre CoQ are designed to power the vessel with clean solar energy during their upcoming maritime endeavors.

The team is gearing up for the Defi Azimut, set to depart on Tuesday, September 19, and will follow it up with the Transat Jacques Vabre, a double-handed transatlantic race, commencing from Le Havre on Sunday, October 29.

The solar system, boasting a nominal power output of 754 Wp, has been seamlessly integrated aboard the IMOCA Maitre CoQ V and will generate additional energy for battery charging. This customized project has been meticulously executed, ensuring it harmonizes with the vessel's aesthetics while preserving its original design.

"Installations of this kind allow us to test the resistance of our products under the most challenging weather and environmental conditions. Solbian is glad to come onboard Maitre CoQ V with Yannick Bestaven and accompany him through the most thrilling sailing events of the calendar," says Luca Bonci, CEO of Solbian.

Thanks to this partnership, Yannick Bestaven will have access to a sustainable and efficient energy source, reducing reliance on traditional generators and contributing to the preservation of the marine environment. The use of solar energy represents a significant step toward more sustainable navigation and a better future for vessels and our planet.

Solbian is globally recognized for its innovative work in developing increasingly high-performance photovoltaic modules that can adapt to diverse settings. The company is committed to pushing the boundaries of technology to enable professionals like Yannick Bestaven to harness solar energy for their open-sea adventures.

Yannick Bestaven is renowned for his extraordinary feats in ocean sailing, and this partnership with Solbian further underscores his dedication to environmental sustainability and technological innovation.
