2023 Surflogic NSW Windsurfer Class State Championships at Toukley Sailing Club

Over 50 sailors competed at this years NSW State Championships at the delightful and rustic Toukley Sailing Club. Several interstate sailors also made up the mix, namely from Victoria, Tasmania and Queensland.

Saturday's racing got off to an energetic start, with two races in the morning session held in a stable but building North Easterly sea breeze of 15-18 knots, slightly chopping up the waters of Tuggerah Lake.

Competition was fierce with any misfortunes costing vital places. Race leaders made there presence known setting a high standard.

Three afternoon races with similar sunny 22 degree conditions, with a solid sea breeze kicking in to 26knots. The increase wind strength certainly sorted things out across the fleet. Plenty of exciting rides to be had, one athlete recording 22.5knots board speed.

With 5 races completed sailors retired to the Sailing Club revisiting their day's events. Socialising continued in the evening at the local Canton sporting club for dinner.

Day 2 got off to a different environment with significantly lighter breeze, 7-10 knots from the south east. Another 22 degree day with hazy skies descending onto competitors. A shifting breeze resulting in a course change for race 2. Conditions settled for the final third race of day.

With points close a the pointing end it was going to be dramatic finish to the weekend.
