It is just under a month until the start of the Offshore Race, the first of three regattas to be organized, alongside the 52 Super Series, and PalmaVela, the multiclass event which stretches across ten days of competition.

For this year's 20th edition of the event, there are already 150 teams registered, a sign of its excellent health: the first of the big regattas to be held in the Mediterranean calendar, and to be organized by the Real Club Náutico de Palma.

"Yesterday at eight o'clock in the evening, as established in the Notice of Race, we closed the registration period for the regatta, and are delighted by the response of both the national and international fleets," explained Vivi Mainemare (sports coordinator of the RCNP).

"It is the 20th anniversary of the regatta and the largest both in duration and the number of participating classes, not just in the Baleares but in the whole Mediterranean."

2024, a year of top competition for Palma

From the 26th of April until 5th May, the Real Club Náutico de Palma will host close to two weeks of competition, and with the upcoming PalmaVela regatta, the club director Manuel Fraga also underlined the importance of the club within the world of competitive sailing,

"We have a base for top competition in both Olympic and yacht racing classes. The next year ahead will be very intense, as besides the Trofeo Princesa Sofia regatta, which we have just finished, and PalmaVela in a month's time, we have the Copa del Rey MAPFRE, the World Championships for j/70 class at the end of the summer, the European Championships for the OK Dinghy and The Nations League for the Swan class in the autumn. In November we also launch a new offshore regatta for the Mini 6.50 class which will compete from Palma - Melilla - Palma."
