Canada's NorthStar SailGP Team delivered another impressive performance this weekend on the waters of San Francisco Bay, securing a decisive second place at the Oracle San Francisco Sail Grand Prix.

Going into the second day of racing, the NorthStar SailGP Team was in pole position. Competing against ten fierce international rivals this weekend, the NorthStar SailGP Team executed a near-flawless first day finishing 5th, 1st, 2nd and 1st, to lead the fleet going into today.

On day two, with three fleet races, the Canadians were out of the blocks with a strong lead. Finishing 4th,10th, 5th propelled the team into the thrilling final showdown against France and Spain. Canada's NorthStar's SailGP Team had 100% fly time, defended their position well, but were unable to get by Spain who took the lead from the third gate.

"We need to put our heads together after that final race. We are a bit disappointed; we had half a shot. But we've had some good results and are looking forward to the next one," said Giles Scott, NorthStar's Driver just after crossing the finish line.

Canadian fans were out in force in the sold-out grandstands and lining the shores of the San Francisco Bay, which included fans of Denmark's ROCKWOOL Racing Team who cheered on 'Denada' for the weekend as the Canadian F50 was sporting the ROCKWOOL logo. This was goodwill gesture from the team, after Nicolai Sehested's F50 was ruled out of racing, due to damage attained during a collision at the Los Angeles Sail Grand Prix last weekend.

As part of the team's commitment to giving back and growing the sport, joining the NorthStar SailGP Team this weekend were two Canadian interns, one of whom was the first mentee of the NorthStar Mentor Program.

A second place in San Francisco condenses the season leaderboard for the Rolex SailGP Championship. Canada is in 5th, just two points behind Spain who are in third. Things are trending in the right direction. The team is also currently second place in the Impact League, after scoring third on first Focus Area, with the NorthStar Locker.

The team now sets their sights on the first ever Enel Brazil Sail Grand Prix that will take place on 3-4 May in Rio.

Elbows up!
