The International 49er and Nacra 17 Class Association, in collaboration with the Royal Yacht Club Hollandia in conjunction with the Dutch High Performance Sailing Class, proudly announces that the 2026 Junior World Championships for the 49er, 49erFX, and Nacra 17 classes will take place in Medemblik, Netherlands, from July 19 to 26th, 2026.

Why Medemblik?

Medemblik is a famous and beautiful sailing venue with a deep-rooted legacy in Olympic-class racing. Since founding the prestigious SPA Regatta in 1985, RYC Hollandia has built a reputation for renowned, world-class race management. The city has hosted countless international events, including World Championships.

The Regatta Center in Medemblik offers a compact venue with modern facilities, a large boat park, and an expansive slipway—all within easy walking distance of the historic city center. With plenty of space for three race courses, the venue is perfectly suited to host large, multi-fleet championships with efficiency and excellence.

Typical conditions

In July, the venue delivers ideal racing conditions:

  • Predominantly westerly or south-westerly winds, averaging 10-14 knots.
  • Short, choppy waves due to the shallow depth.
  • Broad open water with minimal current, offering reliable and fair competition.

A sustainable regatta

As part of its commitment to the future of sailing, RYC Hollandia actively supports sustainability measures. This includes eliminating single-use plastics from the race course wherever possible and promoting eco-conscious habits among athletes and teams. These practices will be at the heart of the 2026 Junior Worlds, setting an example for future events.

Explore Medemblik

Beyond the regatta, Medemblik charms visitors with its blend of history and hospitality. From the medieval Radboud Castle to the Steam Museum, cobbled streets, and waterfront cafes, the town offers the perfect mix of culture and relaxation after a day on the water.

Save the dates

  • Event Dates: July 19-26, 2026
  • Racing Begins: July 22, 2026
