Meet the Cruising Yacht Club of Australia's Admiral's Cup Team

Meet the Skippers and sailors, get to know their roles and discover what makes their programs unique.

The Cruising Yacht Club of Australia (CYCA) is proud to be competing in the upcoming Admiral's Cup.

Revived for 2025 after a 22-year hiatus, this regatta brings together leading yacht clubs from around the world in a multi-race format. Teams of two yachts compete in both inshore races, offshore races, culminating in the Rolex Fastnet Race, with points accumulated across all events.

Meet the CYCA Team

The Cruising Yacht Club of Australia has nominated formidable offshore yachts for the Admiral's Cup. Back 2 Black and Zen will represent both the CYCA and Australia in the UK this summer. With the two boats and their crews now on British soil, it is all systems go with final preparations and training sessions.

  • Back 2 Black: Owned and skippered by Sean Langman, this GP42 underwent significant modifications and structural improvements for the challenge ahead. The crew is already hard at work, getting to know the yacht, fine-tuning systems and dialling in new sails to optimise performance ahead of racing.
  • Zen: Gordon Ketelbey's well-campaigned TP52 is a consistent contender on the IRC circuit. The yacht recently received significant TLC, including a full refinish of the hull bottom. Now in the UK, Zen is being reassembled with the keel reattached and the mast stepped. The team is dotting the i's and crossing the t's as they make final checks before launching into an intensive training schedule.
