Emsworth Sailing Club Radio Sailing Regatta 2025

Monday 8th September saw the first ever Regatta for Radio Controlled Yachts, on Emsworth Millpond.

Ten DF-95 yachts raced in near perfect conditions, sunny and a good breeze, with the occasional big gusts which knocked some down like skittles, whilst others scampered off into the distance!

Race officer Allan Perry set some great courses with only one general recall, which was quite surprising with such a competitive fleet.

Nick Yoward came 3rd in the first Race, only to rush home as he was feeling unwell, Giles Bowmans 95 was pirouetting like a ballerina, so Giles became assistant race officer, which was a great help.

10 tough races were held, with photographer Don Manson capturing these machines at their best.

First place went to Simon Dwyer of Emsworth Slipper S.C, Dave Acres of E.S.C and Chris Powles from Hayling Island were both on equal points, but Dave got 2nd place on count-back.

Interesting in 4th place was Mike Wigmore from Itchenor S.C so a good spread of Clubs.

Ollie and staff provided much needed beer and chips, and it was decided by everyone we should race again next year!
