29er EuroCup 2025 in Alsóörs - Day 1

by International 29er Class 19 Sep 11:28 NZST 18-21 September 2025

The 29er EuroCup officially started today in Alsóörs, organized by the Alsóörs Marina Sailing Club. Following the ceremonial opening, competitors attended the skippers' meeting where Race Officer Péter Farkas, IRO, introduced the officials and outlined the day's schedule.

The weather matched the forecast perfectly: Lake Balaton greeted the fleet with a beautiful, steady southwesterly breeze. Four races were completed throughout the day. The first race started in 8-9 knots of wind, which soon built up to a steady 12-18 knots, providing excellent racing conditions.

"The first race only got under way on the third attempt, but afterwards only one general recall required a black flag restart. We needed to get in sync, but everyone sailed fairly, and we managed to complete all four scheduled races," summarized Péter Farkas, highlighting a day that proved to be successful in every respect.

Back ashore, the tired sailors were welcomed by the club with fruit and sandwiches, rounding off a rewarding first day of the regatta.
