Moorings, Sunsail and Leopard Catamarans introduces the all new 43 Sailing Catamaran

by Leopard Catamarans 17 Mar 00:00 NZDT

The Moorings, Sunsail and Leopard Catamarans, global leaders in sailing and power catamarans, are proud to announce the launch of the all new Leopard 43 sailing catamaran, a next generation model replacing the highly successful Leopard 42 / Moorings 4200 / Sunsail 424. Designed and built in collaboration with renowned builder Robertson & Caine and naval architects Simonis Voogd, the Leopard 43 represents a meaningful evolution in sailing performance, onboard living and everyday usability.

The Leopard 43 has been developed to deliver an onboard experience equally suited for private ownership and The Moorings and Sunsail's Yacht Ownership Program, where it will form the next generation of sailing catamarans within The Moorings and Sunsail charter fleets.

"With the Leopard 43, we took everything that defines Leopard sailing DNA— space, performance, visibility and circulation— and pushed it further," said Franck Bauguil, Senior Vice President of Yacht Ownership & Product Development. "The result is a yacht that feels more open, more connected, and more rewarding to sail, while remaining unmistakably true to our blue water cruising heritage."

Designed for a New Generation of Cruising

Developed to align with the new Leopard family aesthetic introduced by the Leopard 46 and Leopard 52, the Leopard 43 goes well beyond a refreshed style. Expansive wraparound saloon windows eliminate traditional structural obstructions, delivering uninterrupted 360 degree visibility and exceptional natural light throughout the interior, one of the most distinctive design advancements in this size category. The result is a brighter, more open living environment that maintains a constant visual connection to the sea, whether under way or at anchor.

Refined Sailing Performance

Designed to be sportier, responsive and more rewarding to sail, the Leopard 43 features an efficient wave piercing hull shape, reverse bows, and an upgraded sail plan. Compared to the Leopard 42, the new model benefits from a mast raised by three feet (almost one meter) and a 12% increase in upwind sail area, delivering improved power, efficiency and handling across a wide range of conditions.

"The Leopard 43 reflects our focus on improving performance without compromising comfort," said Michael Robertson, Design Manager at Robertson & Caine. "From hull form and rig proportions to weight distribution and deck layout, every decision was made to enhance the sailing experience and onboard livability."

Social Spaces Designed for Connection and Usability

Leopard's proven indoor outdoor living concept continues aboard the Leopard 43, with a sliding glass companionway door that seamlessly connects the aft cockpit and saloon, building on the proven indoor outdoor living concept introduced on the Leopard 46 and Leopard 52. When open, the spaces combine into one expansive entertaining area; when closed, each remains fully functional and comfortable. The coachroof lounge has been repositioned forward, directly adjacent to the helm, improving communication between skipper and guests while enhancing visibility and safety.

A signature feature of Leopard catamarans, the forward cockpit access door is retained on the Leopard 43, now complemented by a new upholstered settee in the forward cockpit, creates an additional, protected seating area, improving ventilation and safe access to the foredeck.

For private owners seeking a cleaner foredeck layout, the Leopard 43 also offers an optional composite longeron in addition to the traditional aluminum bowsprit, allowing the retrofit of Code 0 and Code D after market.

Smart Energy Ready Design

The Leopard 43 has been designed to support modern energy management solutions, with integrated glass solar panels positioned aft of the coachroof lounge, generating up to 1,365W of clean energy. This represents a significant increase over the Leopard 42 and eliminates the need for a heavy stainless-steel solar arch, improving efficiency and overall weight distribution.

Global Deployment Through our Yacht Ownership Programs

The Leopard 43 will be offered through The Moorings Yacht Ownership Program as the Moorings 4300, available in 3 and 4 cabin versions, and through Sunsail as the Sunsail 434 in a 4 cabin version, forming the next generation of sailing catamarans within their global charter fleets.

The Moorings 4300 and the Leopard 43 will make a worldwide debut at Cannes Yacht Festival in September 2026 and a US debut in Annapolis in October 2026 at the United States Sailboat Show.
