Bart's Bash 2016 got off to a resoundingly successful start as it dived headlong into Day 2 of the largest sailing event in the world.

It's like waiting for the first guests to turn up to your party. You have put days, weeks, months of your time into planning and preparation and then finally the day comes. It's Bart's Bash 2016, and organisers need to have no concerns!

The global sailing community has united to kick-start Bart's Bash in a majestic, humble, charming, emotional, fun and memorable first day.

As we enter day two we are on the cusp of some very exciting reports as many of the sailing clubs and sailing venues sail their Bart's Bash races today, Sunday 18th September.

Figures so far reveal take-up as follows over the weekend, unless of course you are in New Zealand and St Maartin where the weather put paid to their events which have now been postponed.

58 countries, 356 venues, 7,245 sailors signed up!

Tim Anderton, the Bart's Bash Event Organiser, says he loves the support received round the world, commenting, "It's all about participation and that's what we're getting with thousands of sailors of all levels and abilities taking to the water and enjoying fun, social racing, for a great cause."

For example, look out for news from Sir Ben Ainslie and Iain Percy OBE, who are both racing at Hayling Island SC, in the UK.

Keep sharing the BB Facebooks posts and their Tweets!
