GUNBOAT 68

The new Gunboat 68 is the culmination of 15 years of development within the fleet and is the first Gunboat to be produced since the company moved under French ownership. Hall Spars are very excited to be a part of this project having provided the mast and boom for the first yacht that is due to be launched next month.

The new yacht has a firm focus on lightweight performance, which extends beyond her all-carbon composite construction hull and Hall Spars rig, to her high-end designed interior.

Hall Spars were commissioned to build a Regatta rig package for the yacht, building a 29m rotating carbon mast instead of the standard 25m option available. Within the Regatta rig package, the carbon mast constructed is located further aft combined with an increased beam, whilst the carbon boom is 19 inches longer than the standard version. These differences offer a higher safety margin and increased performance, with the yacht expected to reach over 25kts under her big rig option.

Gunboat 68 #1 will also be stepped with Future Fibres ECsix carbon standing rigging for optimum performance.

Speaking about the Gunboat 68 partnership with Hall Spars, William Jelbert, Gunboat COO said:

“Hall Spars in Breskens offered a solution that ticked a lot of boxes for us. Their fantastic facilities are just ‘up the road’ and they leveraged the combined nerve-centre that is the North Technology Group, allowing us to have very good inter-department design loops. We gave all the smart guys plenty of time to tinker this rig and sails package. The first proof of this was evident when the pins for the longeron and cross beam perfectly fitted the Gunboat 68. We can’t wait to go sailing later this year.”

HALL SPARS SUPPLIES SOUTHERN WIND

Hall Spars is thrilled to have signed the contract with Southern Wind Shipyard in Cape Town, South Africa for supply of the spars and rigging for the next Southern Wind 96 (SW96#03).
Designed by Farr Yacht Design this is the third unit of the successful SW96 miniseries under construction, with this yacht the perfect blend of her two predecessors. Delivery is scheduled for winter 2019.

Currently Hall Spars also in the final stage of completion of the spars for SW105#03, a high-performance cruiser, at our Hall BV facility in Breskens. The OceanFurl boom is in production at Hall NZ and the rigging provided will be Future Fibres ECsix.

FRERS 57 SHEARWATER

Look at this impressive Andrea Francolini photo of the latest Frers 57 yacht, Shearwater, taken off the coast of Sydney, NSW.

In May, Hall Spars announced our involvement in the 57-foot electric propulsion yacht, custom built by McConaghy Boats and designed by German Frers, both who are renowned for the most distinguished cruiser-racer yachts on the globe.

The yacht is fitted with a Hall Spars mast and boom, as well as a Future Fibres rigging package, including ECsix standing rigging and Torquelite furling cable.

LUNA RETROFIT

Hall Spars was recently involved in a great retrofit of the Fontaine designed Friendship Yacht Company 75 “LUNA”.

The 75’ sloop is the largest model in the Friendship fleet, yet this beautiful classic yacht can still be comfortably handled without a crew.

At our Hall Spars Service facility in Portsmouth, USA, our expert team installed a new Oceanfurl boom and Future Fibres ECsix rigging on the existing Hall mast. The result is an equally stunning yacht, yet with improved strength, reliability and performance.
