Channel Islands Hobie Cat Championships 2019 Preview sponsored by Savills

Channel Islands Hobie Cats are preparing for the main Championship event of the year being held in St. Aubin's Bay over the August Bank Holiday weekend.

This is the 28th year the Channel Islands Hobie Cat Championship has been held and is sponsored by Savills for the second year running. Hosted and organised by the Royal Channel Islands Yacht Club the event is open to all Hobie racing classes including Hobie 18's, Wildcats and Tigers, the Hobie 16 Fleet will be out in force as will the Junior racing on the Hobie Dragoons complimented by four ex charter boats arriving from the recent Hobie Dragoon Worlds in La Rochelle. The Hobie 16 class also offers trophies for Youth, Women's and Masters categories.

There are 6 qualifying races over the two day event to find the Champions in the various classes. Racing starts at 10:30am on both days. the organisers and participants are looking forward to an excellent two days of competitive racing. The bright Hobie sails will provide a blaze of colour in St. Aubin's bay, showcasing the major racing event of the year.

There is a Registration and Weigh in for all crews on Friday 23rd August, between 6:00pm and 7:30pm at the RCIYC prior to racing commencing on Saturday. Notice of Race and event entry details can be obtained from the Yacht Club or the website. There is a full social programme over the weekend and the Championships Gala Prize Giving Presentation is at the RCIYC on Sunday evening.
