Three years ago, Aaron McIntosh joined Road To Gold to talk about "The Power of the Squad", where we covered the importance of building a supportive culture and how to have fun while training.
The skill of the coach can often be in bringing rivals together, to get them learning from each other and working towards a shared goal, and this is an area where Aaron truly excels. There's a reason Hamish refers to him as "the godfather of squad coaching"!
Since winning a windsurfing bronze medal for New Zealand at the Sydney 2000 Games, Aaron has worked with Dorian van Rijsselberghe, coaching the Dutch windsurfer to back-to-back gold medals at London 2012 and Rio 2016, and then another gold medal for Kiran Badloe at Tokyo 2020.
Now this serial medal-winner is taking his skills to America's Cup coaching, and Road To Gold will be digging into the nuggets of wisdom from Aaron as he transitions from windsurfing to AC yachts, and most importantly, how you can apply that knowledge to your own sailing campaign.
