Risk Strategies Race Day at Block Island Race Week featured another day of champagne conditions and soaring temperatures. To give sailors a brief reprieve, the Race Committee called for an "early" end to racing (only 2 long races instead of 3), moved up the parties, and opened up the race village for some fun lay day activities.
The competition is still very much in full force, however. For an update on the ORC North American Championships, taking place at BIRW this week, we are turning the mic over to our friends at ORC!
Embedded in this week's racing is the first-ever ORC North American Championship, where 27 teams divided into three classes are battling daily on courses in the Blue fleet course area. By week's end the the top three finishers in each class will be earning ORC North American Champion titles. ORC USA Representative Dobbs Davis explains more here...
