Stingray Boats, a leading South Carolina boat manufacturer and long-standing economic contributor in the Pee Dee region, proudly hosted U.S. Secretary of Labor Lori Chavez-DeRemer, and legislators Congressmen Russell Fry (SC-07) and S.C. State Senator J.D. Chaplin (District 29) on July 31, 2025. The visit was part of a limited multi-stop tour across South Carolina recognizing local businesses that are helping shape a resilient, future-ready workforce.

Stingray Boats was one of just four companies chosen for this honor, a reflection of its continued investment in job creation, skills development, and long-term economic growth.

The visit included a guided tour of the facility, conversations with several employees, and a round-table conversation with company leadership that centered around topics such as workforce availability, employee safety, advancement opportunities, and Stingray's role in the regional economy.

"This visit is a tremendous honor not only for our company, but for our entire community," said Barry Avent, Chairman of the Board of Stingray Boats. "To be recognized on a national level reinforces the commitment we've made to invest in our people, expand local opportunity, and help drive economic growth. We're proud to showcase what the team does right here in Hartsville. We'd also like to thank SCBFA (SC Boating and Fishing Alliance), NMMA (National Marine Manufacturers Association) and ABA (American Boatbuilders Association), whose advocacy helps strengthen the broader marine industry."

Part of the Department of Labor's "America At Work" Listening Tour, the visit aligns with broader national and industry efforts to bolster public-private partnerships. With over 110 employees, Stingray Boats continues to play a pivotal role in strengthening South Carolina's marine and manufacturing economy through innovation, workforce retention, and community engagement.
